New International Bridge One Step Closer
Recent Detroit News article indicates that bridge negotiations are proceeding successfully.
According to the Detroit News, negotiations between American and Canadian officials are about to result in a deal to construct the necessary customs plaza on the American side. Canadian officials have offered to pay for a new international crossing in exchange for toll revenues. The process has been obstructed for years by the owner of the Ambassador Bridge who seeks to retain a Detroit bridge monopoly. In order to construct the bridge, eminent domain will be used to acquire necessary property in Detroit.
