Native American tribes are taking more affirmative steps to oppose pipeline crossing their land.

This article describes significant actions taken by Native American tribes in the Midwest and Canada to oppose pipelines. These actions include divesting from banks that support pipeline development, revoking easements, increasing opposition during regulatory proceedings, and asserting treaty violations.

The natural result of these actions will be to push pipeline acquisitions off tribal land.
