ITC CONTEMPLATING NEW PROJECT IN COLDWATER

ITC is publicizing its Coldwater Transmission Project in the vicinity of Jonesville, Newton and State Roads going north to south and Fiske Road and Michigan Ave going east to west.

ITC’s website identifies new projects that it is contemplating.  One of those projects is identified as the Coldwater Transmission Project.  According to ITC’s website:

Phase one of the project consists of a new substation called Newton that will connect to the existing Michigan Avenue substation via a new, three-mile 138,000 volt (138kV), single-circuit transmission line. Construction of the Newton substation began in Q4 2016, and transmission line construction will begin in Q1 2017. Both are expected to be completed in the spring of 2017.

Phase two of the project consists of a new substation called Wagner that will connect to both the existing Alder Creek–Batavia 138kV transmission line, as well as the Newton substation via a new 138kV single-circuit transmission line. Construction of the new Wagner substation and Wagner–Newton transmission line will begin in Q3 2018 and will take six-to-seven months to complete.

ITC provides a sketch of the project’s location:

ITC does not indicate whether it is going to require new right of way in order to implement this project, however, the nature of the project makes this appear necessary.

This blog post identifies issues that people may wish to consider when confronted by an ITC project.

If you have been contacted by ITC about this or any other project, please feel free to contact me.
