ITC Files Lawsuits to Expand Transmission Line Serving Karegnondi Pumping Station

International Transmission Company (“ITC”) has filed lawsuits in Lapeer Circuit Court to expand pre-existing transmission lines.

ITC’s lawsuits represent a hybrid compared to their other recent activity.  For example, ITC has actively acquired Vegetation Management Easements from my clients in Washtenaw, Oakland and Wayne Counties.  These easements allowed for greater vegetation clearing rights along pre-existing transmission lines.  On the other end of the spectrum, I am currently representing numerous clients in Oshtemo Township.  ITC is acquiring property rights to allow it to construct a brand new transmission line.  In Lapeer County, ITC already enjoys limited rights for a small transmission line inside narrow, pre-existing easements.  The new easements expand both ITC’s rights to construct new lines and its vegetation management rights.
